Mission Stitcher’s meets monthly to sew items to donate to area and international needs. What began as an opportunity to make simple dresses to donate to Rwanda expanded to include making re-usable sanitary items for girls in countries where these items are not available to them and without necessary protection, cannot attend school. These simple items are life-changing to avoid missing school and opportunities for advancement in their lives.
The group contributes lap quilts and fidget pads to area nursing homes, made hundreds of masks when Covid required them and none were available, as well as scrub caps for area hospital staff to minimize mask elastic from getting caught in their hair.
The group also provides sewn, knitted or crocheted caps for area cancer patients and have created many craft items to sell with all proceeds have been distributed to area needs. We have people who can teach anyone interested in learning how to knit or crochet.
We welcome anyone interested in joining us, learning how to make simple repairs, hem a pair of pants or learning how to quilt. Sewing machines are available if needed.
