Our Reading Group meets monthly on the second Saturday morning for book discussions.
The Reading Group’s next book is Only One Child By Brian Barlow
This is the story of the four Barlow children and how they were sent to Canada during WWII when the blitz in London was so threatening. From Canada, they went to Muncy Farms and into the care of Aunt Peg Brock.
This is the fascinating, true story of four young siblings from England during World War II and their adoption and life in the United States. Anyone interested in the ongoing societal consequences of the war will find this work of great interest.
Brian Barlow enlightens us about WWII British children evacuees and educates us about the chaotic condition of Britain during the war. The book touches our hearts with the tale of the generosity of two women – one who takes in four children and the other who gives the keeping of four of her children to someone who will foster their futures in America.
Please join us. We will meet in the lounge at the church at 9 AM on Saturday, 10 August.
