First United Methodist Preschool is a fully licensed, accredited preschool that has been serving the children and families of the Muncy area for over 50 years. We are licensed with the Department of Public Welfare and accredited with the Keystone Stars Program (an initiative of the Office of Child Development and Early Learning) which seeks to improve, support, and recognize the continuous quality improvement efforts of early learning programs in Pennsylvania.
Our qualified staff have over 60 years of combined experience in the classroom and are compliant with Safe Sanctuaries, a United Methodist initiative that sets very strict child safety guidelines within our facilities and programs.
We are a faith-based preschool that incorporates Christian teaching into most aspects of our program. Our curriculum introduces children to Bible characters and stories along with typical preschool elements of letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. Our senior pastor holds “chapel time” with the children on a regular basis.
Our program seeks to provide educational and social development for young children in an atmosphere of love and understanding. Children are given opportunities for development in the areas of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, socialization as well as in kindergarten readiness with letter, number, shape and color recognition.
Typical daily activities include table time, story time, creative playtime, music & dance, arts & crafts, active play in either our outdoor play yard or indoor gymnasium, snacks, and show & tell. Special activities include field trips (4-year-olds), special guest teachers and holiday celebrations.
We offer the following classes (ages as of September 1st):
3-year-old class: Tuesday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
