Worship Opportunities

One way to get connected at FUMC is to get involved in serving through worship. Serving in worship includes a wide range of opportunities: greeters, ushers, acolyte, Scripture readers, chancel (vocal) choir, bell choir, instrumentalists, and our praise band…to name a few!

Children and Youth Ministry

Our children and youth are not just the “next generation” of the church, they are the NOW generation of the church! Lisa Laidacker (children) and Kevin Myers (youth) coordinate our children and youth programs at FUMC, offering opportunities for our students to learn about Jesus and grow in their faith as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Opportunities to serve in Children’s Ministry include being a nursery helper, a Sunday School teacher, or volunteering to help organize and run special children’s events throughout the year, like our Christmas and Easter programs.
Opportunities to serve in Youth Ministry include helping organize and chaperone youth group meetings and other retreats, lock-ins, special events, service projects, or trips the youth take throughout the year like mission trips or rocking out at Creation!
We invite you to be the hands and feet of Jesus as you serve the NOW generation of our church here at FUMC!

Visitation and Communion Teams

At one point or another, we all find ourselves in need of a phone call, a visit, or a “praying for you” card. Our Visitation Team assists the pastor in visiting individuals who are recovering from an illness or hospital stay, or are no longer able to attend worship. Additionally, our Communion Team brings the Sacrament of Holy Communion to these individuals in their absence. The gift of our presence with others is one way we share the love of Jesus Christ at FUMC.

Hospitality

Two key words in our Vision Statement are “Welcoming Family.” It is our commitment at FUMC to extend ourselves in radical hospitality so that each person who walks through our doors feels “welcome” and part of a “family.” There are several ways to serve in hospitality at FUMC: the Welcoming/Greeting Team on Sunday mornings, serving coffee and refreshments between services, the Hospitality and Reception Team (kitchen crew!), or as part of the Connection Team which oversees the Connection Tables (information desks) on Sunday mornings.

Mission and Outreach

At FUMC, we are committed to living lives of generosity as we seek to be a blessing to others. We see community service and outreach as an integral and inseparable part of Jesus’ call to “make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19). Therefore, we offer many opportunities throughout the year for our members to give of their time, talents, and treasures to meet the needs of our community. Some of our biggest outreach projects include Sojourner Truth Ministries, Family Promise of Lycoming County, Transform Lycoming County through Volunteers in Mission, Weis Gift Card Giveaway, Operation Christmas Child, Touch-A-Heart Christmas Gift Collection, and Salvation Army Bell Ringing.
